Thanks to a grant to the area of Technology here at the Carlton school, we have a new tool for MCAS preparation. This new tool should prove to be a great resource for helping to prepare our students for the state standardized tests. We have purchased a site license to use a web-based program called Study Island. If you have Internet access at home you and your child can utilize this program at home as well as at school. Grades 3, 4 and 5 will be using this program weekly during designated technology times. Teachers will be able to focus materials to be reviewed based on what is being taught currently in the classroom, items necessary for review or student specific
needs. Reports will allow teachers and parents to monitor progress. Games are a part of the program (aligned with each topic) meant to increase the learning and enjoyment. The program is divided into sections based on subject (math, reading etc.) Each section contains approximately 25 to 30 topics. Each topic has a bank of questions with explanations. All topics are accompanied by a lesson, which includes some brief information about the material covered by the questions in the topics.
If you have additional questions regarding this program please contact study island support@studyisland.com or Mrs. Tuttle, Technology Specialist at the Carlton School.
